Epic California Overlanding Film Shoot: New Baja Tent, Beretta Gear, & a Snow Wheeling Rescue!
Fresh off a shoot in Johnson Valley with the legendary Checkers Motorcycle Club, the MadLads kept the momentum rolling—this time trading desert dust for snow-covered trails. After loading up and heading north to Sacramento, the crew linked up with Ted from Overland Pros to install a new Baja Tent, geared up with Beretta winter apparel, and pointed the Jeep Gladiator toward the Sierra Nevada. What started as a gear test quickly turned into a full-blown winter overland expedition.
Filming south of Lake Tahoe led the team deeper into Bridgeport, California, where hot springs, deep snow, and unpredictable terrain set the stage for an unforgettable day. At Buckeye Hot Springs, the MadLads crossed paths with a fellow traveler known as the Wandering Cruiser. When snow wheeling suddenly went sideways and their rig crashed, the trip shifted from adventure to action. With conditions deteriorating fast, the MadLads deployed recovery gear, winch lines, and teamwork to safely extract the vehicle—proving once again that nothing forges bonds like a recovery in the snow.
Produced, filmed, and edited by MadLad Films (Instagram | Facebook | YouTube), this episode captures the full spectrum of the MadLad lifestyle: overlanding, gear testing, spontaneous problem-solving, and real moments that can’t be scripted. Backed by trusted partners like Beretta, Overland Pros, and WARN Industries, the adventure showcases what happens when preparation meets unpredictability.
